Message from the SAMA Chairperson and Vice Chairperson
It is the first time that the SAMA Conference is being held face to face since the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this conference offers delegates and key stakeholders an opportunity to establish strategic networks and to influence health policies going forward. This gathering marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare, not just as an industry but as a fundamental human right.
The past few years have tested the resilience and adaptability of healthcare systems across the globe like never before. We have witnessed unprecedented challenges, but we have also seen remarkable innovations and unwavering dedication from healthcare professionals and researchers.
The theme of “Strengthening Healthcare Systems” couldn’t be more relevant or timely. It underscores our collective responsibility to bolster healthcare infrastructure, improve access, and enhance the quality of care provided to every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our mission is not just to mend what’s broken, but to build a healthcare ecosystem that is resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of uncertainty into healthcare. All economies – low-, middle- and high-income countries were put under pressure and this has shown a spotlight on our health system. The healthcare system in South Africa is in a state of distress and it is incumbent on all of us in healthcare to ensure that it does not collapse.
That is why the theme of our conference is Towards Strengthening Health Systems. What does Strengthening Health Systems mean? The conference theme presents a significant opportunity for industry stakeholders to fortify strategic networks that will ultimately influence health policies and create a pandemic preparedness framework, post COVID-19. It will also unpack the imperatives which impact both the public sector and private practice.
SAMA’s thought leadership comes to the fore when it comes to leading and strengthening healthcare professionals from medical students to retired members. With a strengthened workforce, taking lessons locally and globally, SAMA in collaboration with our stakeholders will chart the way for solutions to preserve the medical profession.
On behalf of SAMA, we invite you to come and join us as a delegate of this conference to listen and to share ideas. We also invite our key stakeholders to consider a mutually beneficial partnership as a sponsor / exhibitor of this event to take advantage of this valuable exposure and recognition on offer. We would like to thank our speakers and facilitators who are bringing in world class topics to share and challenge us as we shape the healthcare sector for the future Together, we can make a profound difference in the world of healthcare.
