Tivani Mashamba-Thompson is an internationally trained Molecular Biology Medical Scientist Registered by the HPCSA. An NRF-rated Professor of Diagnostics Research and Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies for the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria. She is the founder and lead PI for REASSURED-d@UP research group. She is a co-Director for University of Pretoria MartiTB Diagnostics PTY(LTD), University of Pretoria.  She serves as a Deputy Chair of the National Health Research Committee, a non-executive board member of the South Africa’s National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) as a Deputy Chairperson of the NHLS Research and Innovation Committee. She also serves as a scientific advisor for Abbott International.
