Dr Akhtar Hussain
Dr Akhtar Hussain is a specialist family physician based in Durban and he has been in the public healthcare system for nearly four decades, with a special interest in paediatric HIV/AIDS and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS. He is a lecturer in the department of Family Medicine at the Nelson Mandela Medical School. He has been a good standing SAMA member more than 35 years and was the first trained SAMA Shop steward in 1996. He is the Vice Chairperson of the Human Rights Law and Ethics Committee at SAMA. Dr Hussain is a Vice President of Bazm e Adab Urdu Society in KZN. He is also an intern evaluator with the HPCSA.
